Mountains from the Sea : Lofoten
The Lofoten Islands are a picturesque archipelago situated in Norway about 100 to 300 kilometers north of the Arctic Circle. Just mention ‘Arctic Circle’ to us photographers and the excitement levels rise quickly.
They are known for their dramatic landscapes, jagged peaks, pristine beaches, and charming fishing villages. It’s a place where the mountains literally rise out of the sea, and the backdrops for landscape photography are simply fantastic. Overall, the Lofoten Islands are a must-visit destination for nature lovers, adventure seekers, and those interested in experiencing the beauty of the Arctic region through the medium of photography.
A homage to those amazing peaks. Hope you enjoy ..

The colour at sunset was just so intense I had to tone it back significantly. Such a fantastic feeling to see the sky go wild above those epic peaks and cute little cottages.
A painting at dawn. Lights just coming on over the bridge at Reine. What a view to wake up to everyday. Photographers paradise.
An iconic view at Hamnoy. The snowstorm might not make the most obvious conditions to shoot in but we love how the flash has frozen the snow in this exposure.
This is the view from just behind the cabins we stay in while in Lofoten. We were lucky enough to have some fresh snow and some blazing northern lights for good measure. Mountains rising out of the sea are also helpful.
A truly epic view Lofoten style. We hiked up to this viewpoint long before dawn and were rewarded with some stunning blue hour light that ill never forget.
There are mountains rising out of the sea, and there are ‘MOUNTAINS RISING OUT OF THE SEA’. The most pointy of all the Lofoten peaks and the calm muted weather suited the scene perfectly.
