Deserts of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura
There’s nothing quite like a desert for landscape photography. Theres not too many options in Europe thus the Canary Islands really give you something different. The desert areas of the Canary Islands are characterized by arid and rocky landscapes with limited vegetation. Created some 15 million years ago by fiery volcanic eruptions, Lanzarote is characterised by its diverse landscapes from paradise beaches with seemingly endless stretches of golden sand to the sparse El Jable desert to the rugged volcanoes of Timanfaya National Park. The stunning deserts are the focus of this blog.
To the south of Lanzarote is Fuerteventura, and at its northern tip lies Corralejo. A totally different type of desert than what you find in Lanzarote, the fine grainy sand and dunes can make for some epic photography. Shooting in the Canaries provides the opportunity to shoot some epic desert scenery while still traveling with Spanish comforts.
Hope you enjoy ….

A passing shower in Lanzarote shows the true drama of the landscape. The light was so changeable. Pure magic. Nikon d850, 70 – 200, f7.1 at 1/160 .
