A set of steps in the blue city of Chefchaouen. I had noticed the day before that a small ray of reflected light hit the steps at a certain time so we waited until the light was like it was melting down the steps.

Fes…an overlook at sunset. Looking towards a minaret on the other side nestled below the hill.

The desert….with the hut….and the tree. Great light and many angles to shoot this awesome hut and tree.

I love shapes, texture and subtle light. The desert has all of these elements combined making it a very target rich environment. Everywhere you look there is stunning imagery to be made. This one has some wind blowing the sand at the top.

A stunning sunrise in the sand dunes of Merzouga…a surreal place to spend time…rolling dunes creating a wonderful dreamlike landscape.

A dried out river bed not far from Ouarzazate has all sorts of possibilities for abstract imagery.

This little ramshackled hut that I stumbled on on my scouting mission led to us coming back here on the tour for a sunset shoot. We got some great light and I was delighted to get to shoot it again.

The inaugural Morocco workshop was my ninth ExploreLight trip and certainly the best. The trip was quite different from other workshops with a broad range of photography genres – landscapes, architecture, people, street photography, abstracts and even some wildlife! And large vista wide angle shots through to picking out details with the long lens. The locations were great and very different from many I’ve seen posted from other trips. I learned a huge amount from Daragh and Peter who teach with an informal and enjoyable style. My photography has come on leaps and bounds with their help. The trip has some long journeys but they passed quickly travelling with like minded people and many friends from prior trips.

I have never been on a tour which so much variety. From the great white Hassan mosque in Casablanca, the maze of the medinah in Fez, the blue streets of Chefchaouen, the red sands of the Sahara, the pink of Rose valley to the verdant green of the Dades gorge.

All in the company of our fantastic Berber guide and drivers.
